The spectacular outback scenery as we travel along the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges on our way to Palm Valley. Enjoy morning tea at the Historic Precinct of Hermannsburg and explore the historic buildings and Art Gallery featuring works of the famous Aboriginal artist Albert Namatjira. The next stop will be Cycad Gorge and then it's a short 4WD drive into Palm Valley where you will be able to wander amongst the relic palms and cycads. You will have the opportunity to complete the Rim Walk or the River Walk as you experience this oasis in the desert.
On the return journey, you will stop for a picnic lunch before a short walk up to Kalaranga Lookout.
By mid-afternoon, it's time to return to Hermannsburg Historic Precinct for a short stop and last minute photos of the area.
The panoramic landscapes of the West MacDonnell Ranges are extraordinary for their immensity and the spectacular array of sunburnt oranges, maroons, and purples on display. These mighty ranges light up in brilliant oranges and reds at sunset on the return trip to Alice Springs.
